South Asian Disability Forum (SADF) including eight countries of the south Asian Countries (Afghanistan,
Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, India, Maldives, and Bhutan) attended in a workshop in Islamabad-Pakistan to prepare strategic planning for empowerment of persons with disability, particularly for women with disability. Participants were representatives from Disability People Organization (DPO)
Miss Amina Azimi Project Manager of Afghan Landmine Survivors’ Organization (ALSO) took part on behalf of Afghanistan’s DPO and she talked regarding the situation of Persons with disabilities, especially women with disabilities in Afghanistan in the workshop, she said that “A woman born with a disability is considered a matter of shame for the family and they usually keep her in isolation,”, and she further added that in remote areas, these women have to face more hardship and are deprived of their basic rights.
South Asian Disability and Development Initiative (SADDI) will be implemented in four countries of the south Asia Countries include Afghanistan so it will be reinforced in close cooperation government and non-government stakeholders
In 2014, SADF will be hosted by ALSO which were one of the participants of this forum in close collaboration and cooperation of Key and line Ministries and other stockholders settle in Afghanistan.
